The nostalgic history of Airborne Beer ...

During the winter of 1944, the Germans made a major breakthrough in southern Belgium in an attempt to recapture Bastogne Belgium. As the battle raged, the Germans captured the American field hospital, forcing American medics to move into the local church. It was then that a local legend was born.

A young GI was visiting his injured boyfriend in the makeshift church / hospital when he asked his boyfriend if he could get him something. "Yeah. Go get me something to drink."

After a bit of coaxing, the GI came out and found a tavern with a working beer tap. Since he had no way to transport her, he filled his helmet with beer and began to walk back and forth to the hospital.

65 years later, Vince Speranza returns to Bastogne.

In addition to this, you will need to know more about it.

At the restaurant, the waiter brings Vince and his group some Airborne beer. On the bottle's packaging, he sees a design of a GI carrying beer in his helmet. Quite surprised, we tell him his story.

In honor of this tale, beer is also served in a "helmet".
